Ballydehob Playgroup was founded in 1979, and for many years operated out of a loaned room in the National School. Fortunately we were able to secure funding from the National Development Programme and the EU, and this allowed us to totally renovate the original ruined schoolhouse and make it into a wonderful permanent home for the playgroup.

We moved into the schoolhouse in 2003 and have since expanded the functions of the school to include services such as the after-school programme, summer camps, and the soon to be opened creche facility later this year.

The playgroup offers great opportunities for both the children in the community, and their parents.

The children gain from professional care and guidance that helps in their on-going development, and parents get the chance to go back to work or take up further education courses.

The playgroup is regulated by the HSE, is a non-profit making organisation, and welcomes assistance with fundraising and any input or time given to us by parents and the local community.
